One of the most popular boys toys over the last few years has been the Bakugan Battle Brawlers game. Many parents are now familiar with these large marble looking balls that when rolled on to the metallic cards that they are used with pop open into their attack formation. To play the game kids need a minimum of three Bakugan balls, three gate cards and three ability cards. The cheapest way to get these is to buy a Bakugan Starter Pack. However for kids who are already playing the game to get them extra warriors to choose from, from just a few dollars, a cheap Bakugan Booster Pack fits the bill perfectly. Also if your children are not yet playing the game, rather than buying a more expensive set, why not just get them a Bakugan Booster Pack to see what they think.
This game is aimed at elementary school children. To play the game proper they have to perform some mental arithmetic, adding numbers from their Bakugan to numbers on the gate and ability cards. So children much younger may not be ready for this. Also because the Bakugan balls are fairly small, they also present a choking risk for kids who still put things in their mouths. This is something that parents must bear in mind. That said, many children seem to love playing with these toys while not necessarily playing the game they were designed for. It takes a bit of skill to roll your Bakugan in the right direction and at the right speed for it to spring open on the gate card.
I like these toys for a variety of reasons. The game itself involves strategy and simple math. This makes it an educational toy without seeming like it. Also there are loads of different Bakugan warriors to collect so like all toy collections e.g. Pokemon, Transformers, Star Wars, etc. Your kids can really get into the Bakugan world.
The Bakugan figures available to buy are: Abis Omega, Alpha Percival, Altair, Alto Brontes, Apollonir, Atmos, Bee Striker, Blade Tigrerra, Brontes, Centipoid, Clayf, Cosmic Ingram, Cycloid, Delta Dragonoid II, Dragonoid, El Condor, Exedra, Falconeer, Fear Ripper, Fencer, Fortress, Foxbat, Freezer, Frosch, Garganoid, Gorem, Griffon, Hades, Hammer Gorem, Harpus, Helios, Hydranoid, Hydranoid (Dual-headed), Hynoid, Hyper Dragonoid, Ingram, Juggernoid, Klawgor, Lars Lion, Laserman, Leefram, Limulus, Manion, Mantris, Mega Brontes, Mega Nemus, Midnight Percival, Monarus, Moskeeto, Myriad Hades, Naga, Nemus, Neo Dragonoid, Neo Dragonoid (7 in 1 Maxus), Oberus, Percival, Pyro Dragonoid, Rattleoid, Ravenoid, Reaper, Robotallion, Saurus, Scraper, Serpenoid, Shadow Vulcan, Siege, Sirenoid, Skyress, Spindle, Stinglash, Storm Skyress, Stug, Tentaclear, Terrorclaw, Thunder Wilda, Tigrerra, Tuskor, Ultra Dragonoid, Verias, Viper Helios, Warius, Wavern, Wilda, Wired and Wormquake
Some of these warriors are only available as part of larger boxed sets like the 7 in 1 Maxus Dragonoid or the 7 in 1 Maxus Helios. The rest are available as single figures within the single packs. Included in the Booster Packs are one Bakugan Ball and one gate card. The only drawback through ordering via Amazon is that you do not get to pick exactly which one you will receive. However these Bakugan Booster Packs are often quite hard to find in toy stores. Ordering from Amazon is one way to get a cheap present for your son that he will love.
